Our Principals
MICHAEL J. SMITH is a fourth generation Marin County resident who has been in the real estate industry since 1960. Mr. Smith has been involved in all aspects of the development of real property, as a planning commissioner, a developer and a vice president of a prominent real estate brokerage company. Mr. Smith served on the San Rafael City Planning Commission from 1980 to 1987, where he served as Chairman for 2 years. Through his experience he gained insight and expertise into the difficult process of obtaining entitlements in a slow growth environment.
BENJAMIN A. SMITH, has broad real estate experience in Northern California both in the Greater Sacramento Area and the Bay Area. At Waterford Associates, Mr. Smith is currently heading all aspects of development and operations at the firm. Prior to joining Waterford Associates, Mr. Smith was responsible for all aspects of originating, negotiating, underwriting and closing commercial real estate mortgage loans in the western region for National Realty Funding (“NRF”), a commercial mortgage conduit whose equity partners were Prudential Securities and Progressive Insurance. Mr. Smith started his career at Bishop Hawk, a Sacramento based commercial real estate firm. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Santa Clara University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.
